Finding the Right People – Sometimes You Need New Tools

If you’ve ever gone through the trouble of hiring and onboarding a new employee before realizing you’d made a huge mistake, you know how tricky it can be to find the person your business needs. When you start the journey of transforming your business with a merger/acquisition, you need to know your people’s strengths and be able to and count on them. You can’t be worried about bad hiring decisions when you’re trying to build a new office culture from the ground up.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: your people are your greatest asset, and you absolutely cannot put too much effort into making sure you have the right people working for you. The problem, of course, is that most of us do not know how to do this. Interviews are a great way to find out how well a person interviews (!), but they can’t always tell you what a candidate’s true workplace tendencies are.

Everyone who’s owned a business has probably had one or two employees they wished they could clone. If they had “an office full of Allisons,” they think, everything would function better, the patients would be happier, and every bill would be collected. You can’t clone people, thank goodness, but you can “clone” the qualities that you want your people to have. Most importantly, you can pinpoint what it is that works so well between you and Allison, for example, and train, build, or hire for that attitude and capacity.

The Right Tools Can Help You Hire and Retain for Success

In my recent posts, I explained some helpful technology that can make an office transformation more effective, and today I want to take a little time to explain the benefits of an HR service that can make you a hiring pro. If you’ve never heard of the Omnia® Profile, pay attention!

The Omnia Group has devised a series of extremely precise tools that help you identify what you need and make sure you choose candidates who have those qualities. They do behavioral, motivational, and workplace habits assessments that are specific to the dental industry.

Let me repeat that part: they provide HR tools that are specific to dentists and dental offices! They also do leadership analyses that help you understand your own leadership and managerial traits, so you can be sure of what complementary qualities and attitudes you should be looking for in a new hire or promotion candidate.

In my Know Grow Exit℠ course, I explain that you have to know where you are and what your strengths are before you can grow your business. The Omnia Group has taken a lot of time to develop tools that are easy to use and help you know who and what you need in order to grow in the right direction.

I have seen so many successes happen with the Omnia tools that I now partner with them to provide their profiles in my Talent Innovation service. They remove any possible negative outcomes from the equation, and that is priceless.
